Why Gifting Portraits Is the Most Meaningful Thing You Can Do Right Now

Here’s the real reason to gift your loved ones a portrait session in the next 3 months.

And it’s probably not what you’re expecting.

A few weeks ago, I was in New York and after four days in the city, I was supposed to fly back home to Austin.

But instead, I found myself in Philadelphia, unexpectedly, because my 92-year-old great aunt is fatally ill.

And in her words: “I’m ready to go.”

Now, here’s what’s so serendipitous about this…

Last year, I visited her for her 92nd birthday. We hadn’t seen each other in over a decade and it was the first time I’d ever spent one-on-one time with her.

And of course, I brought my camera 😉

I didn’t know it then, but those portraits I took would become some of the last crystal clear photos we have of her.

This is why I do what I do.

If you’ve been hesitating to book a family photoshoot, you might be thinking:

“My smartphone photos are good enough.”

“I don’t have time to coordinate with everyone right now.”

“We already have a bunch of family photos.”

But here’s the truth:
The timing is never perfect and memories don’t wait.

We don’t take portraits just for today, we take them for someday.

Let’s make sure you and your loved ones are remembered, not just as memories, but in photographs you’ll be proud to pass down.
